Vijaya Dashami, being the biggest Hindu festival in Nepal, also marks the best time of the year for trekking. Celebrated with grand family gatherings, worships and delicious feasts, Dashain also brings the extended holiday period giving Nepalis the perfect opportunity to explore the stunning landscapes of their homeland. The Dashain Festival collides with Autumn, the best trekking season in Nepal, where the skies are more vibrant blue and clear, the temperatures are pleasant and the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains makes it a trekkers paradise
Nepalis often go on popular trekking routes during the Dashain Holiday, embracing the outdoors as a way to celebrate the festival in nature. Families, friends and groups often go trekking to the famous destinations like Everest, Annapurna, Lantang, and often the lesser-known trails taking the advantage of the festival break. The moderate weather conditions, dry trails and minimal rainfall makes it perfect for hiking. Trekking during the peak Dashain season not only offers the best views but also allows one to create deeper connections with family/friends, away from the usual day to day hustle.
Nepal is popular for having the most public holidays in the world, seeing many people using their Dashain break to be productive by going on camping treks, short hikes and making the most of their time off in the mountains. As Nepalis enjoy the freedom of the holidays, trekking has become an integral part of Dashain celebrations, combining both cultural traditions and the natural beauty of Nepal.
