  • You'll have your first bite of Bhutanese food when you check into the hotel in Thimphu.

  • Your next stops will be the National Memorial Chorten and Thimphu Dzong, Bhutan's largest Dzong. Along the way, we visit the Arts & Crafts School, well-known for its classic thangka paintings. The Textile and Folk Heritage Museums are the next visit on your tour of Bhutan's preserved culture and living heritage. We will then take a short drive to Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park, where there is a 169-foot-tall bronze monument of Buddha.

  • Visit Punakha Dzong, a historic fortress built at the meeting point of the Pho Chu and Mo Chuu rivers, after breakfast. The Zhabdrung (a renowned lama) constructed Wangdue Phodrang in 1638 atop a massive ridge between the Puna Tsang Chhu and the Dang Chhu, which was obviously chosen for its dominating view of the lowlands below.
  • Before having lunch and leaving for Paro, stop at the Dzong and the local market. Make a quick stop at Dochula Pass along the drive to take in Bhutan's breathtaking scenery. Also, visit the Chhimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), which is a 20-minute stroll through the village of Sopsokha following the terraced fields.
  • Couples looking for blessings for a child who is childless often make their journey to the temple. We will organize your overnight accommodations at a lovely hotel in Paro.
